Mr. and Miss Defy met in 2016 and quickly bonded over their love of travel and desire to live a life of adventure and purpose.

Miss Defy is a lover of all kinds of adventure. She is a perfectionist at heart and loves checking things off to-do lists. Whether she is playing in the mountains, working in healthcare, traveling abroad, or fixing up rental properties-she aims to find the humor in it all. Financial independence is a newer concept to her, but she has learned that small risks can yield large rewards. Her favorite part of life is the people, and you can always find her trying to converse with strangers or planning for the next travel destination. Read more about Miss Defy here.

Mr. Defy dreams big and takes the steps necessary to reach them. He has been on a path to financial independence from a young age, and enjoys real estate investing and living below his means. You can catch him wearing flip flops and a T-shirt as he lives a life of frugality while spending his money and time on family, friends, and travel. He is introspective, but always up for a sarcastic joke or prank to lighten the mood. He believes that money should work for you, not against you. Read more about Mr. Defy here.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Keeping up with the Joneses personifies a societal pinnacle to which all successful people are supposed to attain. You must have the huge mansion by the water, nicest sportscar, newest phone, latest plastic surgery, most expensive handbag…and the list goes on. But why? Who are the Joneses? And why is everyone trying to keep up with them? This is a blog that goes against the typical notions of what it is to have a successful life. When you leave the planet, would you rather have a house full of stuff or a lifetime of memories? Do you want to place value on family, friends and experiences over commodities? Together we want to share our experiences and research with you as we struggle and succeed on this path to travel more, work less, and ultimately create a life of value.

For now the blog will stay anonymous as we strive on our journey. We both enjoy our jobs and career fields but don’t want employers to get the wrong impression about hiring/promoting someone pursuing financial independence.
